Abstract

This article examines the politics of Islamic law during the Dutch period. There are two main problems studied in this article, namely the process of the entry of the Dutch into Indonesia, and the political conditions of Islamic law during the Dutch period. To answer these two questions, the author took several books and articles as the main reference in this study. After conducting in-depth research using the literature study method, the author concludes that the beginning of the Dutch colonization of the archipelago began with the presence of the Dutch Trade Organization in the East Indies, or better known as the VOC (Vereenigde Oostindische Companie). As a trade organization, the VOC had an extraordinary role beyond its function. Political law was also adapted to the interests of colonialism, namely the law was planned to be unified, unified, which means that the law that was in force in the Netherlands was also applied in Indonesia.
